Organizing Your Home

Organizing your home can seem very overwhelming but if you start off small and stay consistent you can have an organized home. It doesn’t matter if you start with a drawer or a room or a specific item, the key is to just start. If you have trouble focusing, start by setting a timer and doing a 30 minute decluttering session. If you do this consistently you will start to notice a difference immediately. Remember to give items in your house a specific home so that you know where the item is and you do not have to search for it or spend money replacing it. If you cannot find a home for the item then you may want to trash it, give it away or donate the item. Even though you spent money on the item it is not serving a purpose if you are not using it and you will be much happier having the space for items that you do use.

Remember that organizing your home does not mean getting rid of everything. It is basically, keeping the items that are important to you and finding a purpose and place for them all. You will feel much happier when you walk in to your home and you are not overwhelmed by piles of things that are unimportant and taking up space. You will be able to find things quickly which will save you time and money . If you do not feel that you can do this on your own you can hire someone to help you. An organizer will take the time to go through the space and get rid of the items that you do not love or need. An organizer can take the trash away and donate the items that are no longer useful. They can put your items away so that the space is maximized and better utilized. Sometimes you need someone else’s perspective to help you determine how best to use a space. Then, you can sit back and relax and enjoy your new clutter free room.

Organizing is a way of life and needs to be done consistently. You cannot expect to organize a space once and it to last forever but if you maintain good habits and set up a good system then you will only need to fix up the space minimally over time. A few minutes a day and you will be able to keep your spaces organized. A good tip is : “What gets scheduled gets done”. Schedule some time to organize and it will get done.
